AOPA at Boy Scouts National Jamboree....

Patch-300x224Making its debut at its new permanent home in the mountains near Mount Hope, W.VA, the 2013 National Scout Jamboree is taking place over 10 days, July 15-24.  Representing AOPA, President Craig Fuller and AOPA Pilot Senior Editor Dave Hirschman introduced Jamboree attendees, volunteers and staff to general aviation.

“I travel the country talking to pilots and AOPA members, but even I rarely get to see so much enthusiasm from so many young people as I have today at the Boy Scouts of America National Jamboree in Mt. Hope, West Virginia,” wrote Fuller in a July 18 blog entry

More than 1,000 scouts visited AOPA's tent at the Jamboree.  Scouts tried their hands at the controls of the AOPA Jay flight simulation device by Redbird.  Approximately 600 Scouts signed up for AOPA's special AV8RS, membership program, available to teens ages 13 to 18.
