In our everlasting pursuit of better performance and usability - we are planning the launch of a new homepage layout. The result will be lightning fast and easy on the eye.
What are your thoughts? - please post your comments below, we'd like to hear from you

(Post Updated 4-17-2009: In response to feedback on this post we've revised the new homepage and inserted a new screenshot here.)

The look and feel is nice, but when I go under my reservations, it reflects 1 to 2 of 2 but I only have one?

Thank you ALL for your feedback. It is very helpful as we try to make improvements. We are taking all your suggestions into account.

the only thing I liked better about the old home page is being able to choose schedule for today, next two days, weekly

I find the old Home Page to be more useful in every respect. It is also more pleasing to the eye. I really hope you don't change to the new format.

Where's the mass email function?
Posted by: Ponderosa Aero Club | April 24, 2009 at 01:07 PM
Ponderosa,
We are adding a Mass Email button to the User List - it seemed to make sense that way.

Our uses here may be different than others', as we're not doing rentals and such but rather a simple partnership on a single a/c. That said, I prefer the old (current) page.
Personally, we have no use for duration, as it may be over days or a weeklong trip. The mouse-over to see the details (on the old/current page) is VERY helpful and would not want to lose it! Do, however, like the day of the week displayed alongside the date, makes things easier. But prefer the left colum the way it is, many options at a quick click!
One way to handle this and make everyone happy would be to let the user decide/customize in each account: new format or old!
But at any rate, we thank y'all for your hard work and striving to do your best...we really like this service!

Scott, thanks for your comments. One thing that you'll be able to do is set the "Current Reservations" page to your default home page - that way when you login you'll be taken straight to this page and have everything you mention. It will require a special permission for you to be able to do that and admins will have the option to enable that for all users or not. Sound good?

Great New Look. Very Clean and Simple

I think so this design will load faster. Also the design is simple and professional..

To get to my work schedule I now have to go through multiple pages and links. The "work schedule" link needs to be placed back under one of the drop down menus at the top.

I liked the older one better. I logged in the first time today and noticed that all the neat info buttons were gone! It gave me quick access to the flight info.

I find the new page less functional. I don't like having to click "more" to go to a different page before I can actually do anything (such as dispatch or edit a reservation.) That's just one more unnecessary layer to deal with. Also, I prefer having the bulletin board posts' summaries show on the main page. As for the new "look" I'm indifferent--it's alright, I guess, but the old one was, too.

I'm not quite sure I like the new look. Actually, I much prefer the old look. I thought it was easier to read and move around between the screens.

OK....personally, there are too many ways to check the schedule...i think overkill...i use the mass email feature frequently...where did it disappear to? I also liked the user info previously...too many pages to scroll through now.

On my home page there isn't a spot to add reservations. Is that not included on the new home page

I can't quickly access the next 2 day view
perhaps options when I click the calendar?
but the simplicity is splendid
good work, keep it up!

Looks a lot more clean and it's a lot faster than the previous version. Great job!

I don't think it's cleaner at all. It requires more clicks and uploads to get the same information and it is not delineated like it was, making it take longer to focus on the areas you want to find quickly.
The bulletin board that no one really uses, at the place I rent from, is the first thing front and center and it has messages from 2006. Instead of it being off to the side where I don't look at it anyway. There is one post per year on it and now I have to read it every time I log in.
I liked how we were able to edit and delete reservations on the home page and that is gone, now I have to find it. More clicks, more loading, more waiting, more searching for things.

Would like to be able to edit reservations from the new style main page like I used to be able to do.

I quite like the new interface - it seems cleaner, and I REALLY like the My View and Custom Views feature - that will really help me focus on only the items of interest.
I also use an iPhone and have always been able to get at the old interface nicely. The new one seems to cut off the right hand side both on the home page, and also on the horizontal schedule page.. Luckily, the times of day at the right hand are after 8PM - and I'm not yet night-rated! Anyway, it works fine on firefox on my PC, but I thought I'd mention it as I bet you have a fair number of people using iPhones...
Great work.
Best regards,
Blair

You need to add a prominent, "Make a reservation" button to the home page.
Aside from that, nicely done.
Cheers

i like the orignal style!
simple and easy to read.
the current style has too much date information...-0-||| pretty long...and ususally the fly only happened in one day..

At first glance I would agree that it appears to be a cleaner interface but I would agree with Mr. Feret & Mr. Pettibone above in that I find that in the new interface I have to click more links and load multiple pages to get the same information that was presented on a single start-up page before. I'd much rather have everything available at a single glance than have to look for it and/ or load multiple pages to get to it.
As an example of this, if I loaded the Directory in the old interface, I could see everybody on it on a single page, making it much easier to search for somebody or to copy-paste information from multiple users. Now I find that I have to load several pages to search through the directory which is not at all user-friendly.
Furthermore, with the new interface, under My Reservations, I'd much rather be able to see ALL my upcoming reservations on the first start-up page itself, rather than, once again, load multiple pages to do something so simple.
Lastly, please don't remove the mouse-over function. It's extremely useful and again, obviates the need for multiple page loads.
Do appreciate attempts to refresh the look but please don't sacrifice functionality and ease of use for a new look.
Thank you for giving us this opportunity to provide feedback.
