Thanks for posting this. I can see how this will make room for a lot of new services. Seems lighter and more user-friendly too.

This looks great! I'm looking forward to adding our new big features soon. Do you see anyway for us to make it easier for first time users to make reservations??
Posted by: Nick Wegner | April 09, 2009 at 02:50 PM
I think this interface will open up all sorts of opportunity there because we can add new pages and focus on really meeting a specific need with each new page. With the current homepage, we try to do SO much it can be overwhelming for the user.

The new pages look very clean. Very easy to read with much less "clutter".

I like the existing screen which allows us to show a brief summary of any bulletin board items so that clients accessing FSP don't skip them. With the new look they will need to be conscious about clicking on the Bulletin Board link every time. I also like the feature that shows me any system messages, reservations and my schedule all on the homepage. Aren't these supposed to be admin configurable to come up or not on the homepage? Bottomline: I like the existing look as is. Please find another way to speed up the homepage loading.
Thanks for taking my feedback.

Ace Aviation,
Thank you for your clear feedback. You bring up some good points. As far as the messages and system messages, that will be the default page when users login and they'll only be able to set a different page as their homepage if your company allows them too.
Regarding the bulletin board, what if we clearly displayed that there are new bulletin board items posted since they last logged in?

I also like the bulletin board and client messages on the 1st page.

The new version looks a lot cleaner, I like it.

Steve,
The client messages would be the default page that loads for your clients, so I believe that item is covered.
What about having the bulletin board link be in bold if there are new posts? Is it really necessary to have the bulletin board show up right when people login? Or, is it enough to make it obvious that there are new posts they need to see?

The screen shots below appear to be of the proposed Reservations, Messages, Bulletin Board and Images pages. I tend to think each user has one’s own preferences. Perhaps giving a user to customize his “home” page for FSP might be workable. It could be explored with other users.

Alan, the first page that would load by default is the messages/system messages page. As an admin or user with permission to "set your homepage" you would be able to set any of the above pages as your home page. what do you think?

I'd prefer to open directly on the "My view" page and skip the homepage altogether. Is there a way to do this ?
Posted by: Alain Richard | April 10, 2009 at 01:36 PM
Alain, currently there is not a way to do that. Thank you for the request. We'll see if there is a good way to do so.

Great idea. keep it simple and that makes for much easier use.Giving Ad-min control would solve most of those questions.Have used FSP for years and its still getting better.

Like the cleaner look, but I too like having the bulletin board posts on the home page so that anyone logging in can see them without effort.

I agree with most of the user comments that it looks nice and clean.
The one note that I agreed with most though is that it probably shouldn't completely sacrifice info for speed/cleanliness.....perhaps a summary of changes, or display the "last 5 since login" BB or postings, or something like that. That way announcements aren't lost in the shuffle.
And, though the existing "upcoming" section showing all people/reservations in a club probably isn't as necessary (more for curiousity purposes), but I always did think the "my schedule" was a nice frontpage feature. It was nice to see at a glance what I personally had coming up, and has even reminded me here and there of a reservation I forgot about. For extremely active users, perhaps a "my next 5 reservations" so that space does not become an issue.

Now those are great comments, keep it up we are learning!

I like the new format, but I have a large screen. Right now, the whole page, not including bulletin messages, is completely on the top third of my screen. Is there a way to make the defaults show more reservations in a bigger box, or make the box adjust to window size?
Posted by: Patrick Henry | April 21, 2009 at 12:27 PM
It was great the way it was. If you are still going to go ahead with the new look please dont forget the Calendar window.
Also might be an idea to have the tools "if you wish", so that you could see the Company schedule on one half the screen and your booking/reservations on the other half.

Lee, Thanks for your reply, what are you referring to when you mention "the calendar window".

I like the new format for listing reservations better (for example, listing the day of the week, and showing duration of the flight instead of the end-time.) However, I like the overall look of the old page better.
The seperate frames for each section (in the old version) makes it easier to tell at a glance what you're looking at. And I don't like having to click the "more" link to go to an extra page to do anything at all.
I also prefer the wider area (and more characters available) for the "messages" section in the old version.
Finally, in the "bulletin board" section, I liked being able to read a post's summary without having to click to a different page. Its old location was more noticeable, too--posts get kind of buried down there at the bottom of the page.
In short, the appointment format is the only improvement I see. Everything else is less functional and more work to use. Please reconsider the new design!

I would like to have the day schedule view as my home page.
Much easier to have a visual representation of the aircraft and instructor schedule right from the start. It just slows us down to have to click on a few links to get to this view when its all we use.

I like it for the most part! Very clean and straight to the point. And a light year faster. Something is missing on it but I can't put my finger on it. Maybe its due to the layout? It seems as though its not spread out enough to fill the screen. I have a 17 and 24 inch monitor so it looks strange. Other than that I like it, good job!

Much cleaner look - easier to see what's happening. I like it.
