"A perfect score two years in a row is something to be proud of,” said Operations Manager Melissa Cooper. The safety of our airport users is a high priority and a consideration in nearly every facet of Downtown Airport operations. Obviously, our sights are set on another perfect inspection next year. In FAA circles, an airport attaining a perfect score for three consecutive years is a rare and special award."
Having undergone a major refurnishment, more improvements are planned for the airport. The $17.3 million hangar project on the northwest portion of the airfield is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2009. Home to ATD Flight Systems, up to 700 aircraft per day take off or land at the airport-everything from single-engine propeller craft to sleek corporate jets. The facility and its control tower are open 24 hours a day and consistently rank highly among private and corporate pilots for their full range of service to general aviation. Fixed-based operators service nearly 300 based aircraft, as well as itinerant and charter aircraft, offering fuel, full maintenance, aircraft rentals, sales and flight training.
